FSC
FSC stands for “Forest Stewardship Council” and is an international, independent and non-governmental non-profit organization. Since 1993 they have been working together with delegations from the social sector, the environmental movement, the wood sector and the owners of the forests to set up regulations for sustainable forest management. Everyone processing wood out of FSC-forests is required to respect these regulations. Therefore it is necessary that these companies are audited to achieve a certificate after approval (= COC or Chain of Custody).
The Decospan group received an FSC certification for processing FSC products on July 9th 2000. Therefore we are very proud, not only because we are a trendsetter as a veneer processing company, but also especially because we are making it clear that we support sustainable forest management. Therefore we ask our suppliers not to use wood or wood fibers from :
- illegally harvested wood.
- wood harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights.
- wood harvested in forests where high conservation values are threatened by management activities
- wood harvested in forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use
- wood from forests in which genetically modified trees are planted
You can recognize FSC products from the FSC-label. You can find more information about FSC on www.fsc.be or www.fsc.org.
