MENEN – Decospan opens The Belgian House in Shanghai with six other Belgian companies. China’s largest city is the ideal base for attracting attention to top Belgian brands. The companies intend to use the brand-new, 800 m² showroom to create a hub where professionals can experience Belgian interior brands.
Focus on architects and designers
The Belgian House intends to put the best of Belgian design in the spotlight. That is why the showroom focuses on architects, designers, and project developers. The aim is that the showroom will offer a place for meetings and experiences to convince professionals of the potential of Belgian interior brands. Furthermore, the partners want to support each other through a joint approach to the Chinese market.
All facets of veneer
The seven Belgian companies have successfully created unique atmospheres in different rooms which each convey different ideas and wishes of professionals. Decospan incorporated veneer in The Belgian House by lining floors and walls with wood, designing a kitchen with a kitchen island, and fitting out the building with various custom-built, veneer-lined cabinets.
Furthermore, the wood solutions specialist also installed its famous ‘black box’. This is a unique sliding system that uses large veneer panels to enthuse and inspire professionals.
Logical step in an international strategy
Decospan operates in over 80 countries and in addition to its inspiration centres in Menen, Paris, and New York, the company is now also bringing Belgian veneer products closer to Asia. By reducing the distance between its brands and the various markets, the wood consultants motivate designers to incorporate wood products using European know-how into their designs.
