A spicy kitchen: Shinnoki Cinnamon Triba at TWB

In Bury St Edmunds, TWB Kitchens has shaped a showroom that behaves less like a display and more like a sensory tasting room for materials. At the heart of it sits a sample kitchen wrapped in Shinnoki Cinnamon Triba, where warm tones, measured lighting and quiet detailing turn a retail space into a calm, gently spiced experience.

Designed by Maison Etoile Studio and photographed by Paul Cook, the space invites architects and designers to slow down, look closer and feel how the material performs in real use.

In the background, the enhanced Shinnoki finish ensures that this sensory experience is matched by everyday performance, making the same veneer suitable for everything from kitchen fronts to hardworking table tops in residential and commercial settings.

A showroom with a quiet hint of spice

The atmosphere of the showroom is built on restraint. Pale stone flooring, soft plastered walls and a neutral envelope set the tone, allowing the timber to carry the character of the space.

Against this calm backdrop, Shinnoki Cinnamon Triba introduces a warmth that feels immediate but never overpowering. The grain reads as a subtle vertical rhythm across tall cabinets and base units, while the deeper cinnamon tone grounds the kitchen wall in one continuous field. Under warm, linear lighting, the veneer opens up soft, toasted notes that gently anchor the room.

The softtouch surface and deeper brushing of Shinnoki’s latest finish quietly amplify that effect, allowing the grain to stay expressive while the super matt sheen keeps reflections under control.

Rather than shouting for attention, the material settles into the architecture with confidence. It becomes the quiet spice that seasons the entire retail experience.

Shinnoki Cinnamon Triba as a sensory thread

Cinnamon Triba is not limited to one focal elevation. It appears as a consistent, tactile thread:

  • on the tall cabinet fronts that conceal generous storage,
  • on the lower run of the sample kitchen, framed with horizontal rails that emphasise the grain,
  • and in the bespoke furniture pieces throughout the showroom, from drawer fronts to shelving.

This continuity allows visitors to experience the same veneer in different contexts: as a functional kitchen surface, as a refined storage backdrop, and as a calm framing element around displays and screens.

Behind this continuity sits Shinnoki’s mixmatch craftsmanship: carefully composed veneer leaves that create a harmonious, solid wood look across different panels. Because the collection is prefinished and available with matching edge banding, what visitors see in the showroom can be translated directly into their own projects.

In the consultation area, shelving in Cinnamon Triba surrounds a screen and a series of neatly arranged samples. Here the wood provides a warm register behind the design conversation. The veneer’s texture softens the presence of technology and product, keeping the focus on composition and materiality rather than on hardware.

A kitchen that behaves like furniture

The sample kitchen itself behaves more like a crafted furniture piece than a mere run of cabinets. The fronts are divided into clear horizontal bands, each line reinforcing the rhythm of the grain.

A multilayer Shinnoki finish protects these fronts against micro scratches, keeping the surface calm and consistent even in a busy showroom context. Integrated grip profiles keep the language clean, so the eye reads surface, tone and structure before it notices function.

A light, stonelike worktop sits on top of the Cinnamon Triba fronts with a clear but gentle contrast. The combination of warm veneer and cool, refined surface creates balance: the worktop brings clarity, the wood brings depth.

Softly concealed LED strips run along the wall and under the base units. Rather than spotlighting the kitchen, the light washes across it. This reveals the movement in the grain and gives the veneer a sense of volume without disturbing the calm of the room.

Details that reveal themselves slowly

The strength of this showroom lies in how the details unfold as visitors move through the space.

An opened drawer in the Cinnamon Triba kitchen reveals a lighter timber interior and the discreet T|W|B mark on the back. The precision of the edging, the alignment of the grain and the calm transition between interior and exterior all point back to Shinnoki’s controlled production process and responsible timber sourcing, where each panel is composed from carefully selected veneer cuts.

The transition between the darker veneer and the paler inside feels deliberate, almost like cutting into a spice loaf to discover a softer crumb. It is a small, human moment in a carefully composed setting.

A tall cabinet opens to become a compact drinks and serving station, again framed in Cinnamon Triba. Inside, warm lighting washes over shelves with cups and glassware, and a slender work surface at midheight. When closed, the cabinet reads as a quiet plane of wood; when open, it becomes an intimate, glowing alcove.

Elsewhere, a vertical niche in the kitchen wall introduces a darker, almost metallic backdrop within a Cinnamon Triba frame. Objects, books and greenery sit against this deeper tone, adding another layer of texture without disrupting the overall serenity of the space.

Even beyond the kitchen, the language continues. A bathroom vanity pairs a warm, woodveneered base with sculptural basins and softly backlit arches in the wall. The same approach to light, grain and tone carries through, creating a showroom that feels coherent from one zone to the next.
