How to choose the right Shinnoki edge banding

The edge is a small detail that defines how a panel reads in the space. It frames the grain, continues the rhythm and decides how the material behaves in daily use.

With the latest addition to the Shinnoki range, there are now three ways to finish that edge. Each option keeps the familiar Shinnoki look, but responds differently to light, touch and wear.

1. Veneer+ABS combined

the allrounder

The newest Shinnoki edge banding combines a natural veneer face with an ABS backing in a matching colour. It keeps the warm, layered look of real wood, while adding extra impact resistance for everyday use.

It works particularly well when:

  • the furniture is handled frequently or moved around often
  • fronts and corners need a bit more durability without losing the veneer presence
  • you want a balanced compromise between material expression and robustness

Here, the veneer still carries the visual story, but the ABS core quietly supports it in the background.

2. Veneer edge banding

when the panel sets the tone

Veneer edge banding is the most direct continuation of the panel surface.
A natural veneer with a paper backing follows the same rhythm, tone and ageing as the board itself.

It is the preferred choice when:

  • the panel is clearly visible and exposed to light
  • you want the edge to react in the same way as the surface over time
  • the project calls for a calm, fullveneer reading of the volume

The result is a continuous, nuanced appearance where the edge simply settles into the composition.

3. ABS edge banding

where durability leads

ABS edge banding has a printed and embossed surface tuned to the Shinnoki decor and coloured through the mass. It is ready to use straight from the roll, with no additional finishing steps.

It is the most suitable option when:

  • the edge is exposed to intensive use or frequent cleaning
  • there is a risk of water contact, for example around dishwashers or table tops
  • colour stability and easy maintenance are key

The surface remains calm and consistent, even in demanding environments.
