Luxury and sports: a perfect match
Dont call LAB just a ‘gym’ when it’s in fact a luxurious gym-with-spa vibe in Antwerp. While unflattering light and a smell of sweat prevail in your average gym, the atmosphere here is largely dominated by sophisticated interior design and luxury finish.
Dark colours set the tone at LAB, which recently opened in the Nieuw Zuid district, Antwerps new residential area along the Scheldt. This fancy gym is much more than a bare room filled with gym equipment. If you come here for rehabilitation or training, you can count on a range of customised services - from physiotherapy to nutritional advice, personal trainers and mental coaches. The interior design actually combines practicality and pleasure, all of it aimed at improving performance.
Ever seen a boxing ring made of dramatically veined black and white marble? Architect Dieter Vander Velpen designed it for LAB. The same eye-catching marble of the boxing ring is also used for two other statement pieces: the eight-metre long washbasin in the dressing room and the impressive counter in the entrance hall. When entering, you get the instant feeling that you have arrived at a luxury hotel. This impression is reinforced by the other high-quality materials such as black steel, chrome and tropical wood. The finishing was continued into DOSE, the juice bar where you can have a healthy juice or snack and relax after a sports session.
The tropical veneer fully fits into the designer atmosphere of this high-end gym. Several walls and interior elements are clad in dark Corvus Ebony from Decospans durable Infinite Wood collection. Thanks to ingenious processing, the beauty of the veneer can be endlessly perfected. Just the thing for an environment like LAB, where perfectionism is taken to the next level.
