A quiet office environment where everyone can work undisturbed, that’s what Pelckmans Publishing wanted for their new offices. And that’s why the designer went with a classically inspired interior with black and white as the main colours. That creates a visual sense of serenity. Even loud or penetrating noise fails to interrupt that peace. Despite the open-plan feel, the workplaces are housed in lockable compartments built with acoustic glass. The soft carpeting enhances the sound-absorbing effect.
The chunky wall cabinets and ceiling-high doors are beautifully finished in Querkus oak veneer. To give the surfaces more structure and expose the grain, it has been stained black and brushed. That adds a flourish of robust warmth and a feeling of timelessness to the luxurious offices. The imposing bookcase, which naturally only displays Pelckmans books, has been overlaid in the same ebony veneer. That makes it a fitting showpiece, one everyone can’t help but notice and admire when they visit.
