Vertical lines are a huge interior design trend. You can score a powerful and very spacious effect with them. There are different ways to do this. Do you want structural lines or do you prefer to play with decorative elements?

Vertical lines make a space appear optically higher. Ideal for rooms with a slightly lower ceiling. You can also make truly graphic creations with slats. It’s extra convenient because those surprising vertical line patterns are a match for any style. Depending on the materials and colours you choose, a different effect will be accomplished.

But how can you apply those vertical lines? It is relatively easy, for example with paint or wallpaper. You can also get that trendy, striking vertical line pattern with blinds in front of the - preferably high - windows. But beware of an effect that may seem too 'harsh'. You can also break up the strict and stately appearance of the vertical lines with furniture that has more rounded lines - another trend that is currently very popular.

Subtle lines are certainly an option. You can also simply hang a work of art with vertical lines on the wall. But if you really want to create an interior that is completely in keeping with the vertical trend, you had better take a more thorough approach. With a complete wall covering in wooden slats for example. Or with a functional and at the same time decorative room divider made with beams from floor to ceiling. A powerful and dynamic vertical statement where you can look through, to keep it - literally and figuratively - airy enough.

If you want to install these room dividers, make sure to use wooden bars that are finished all around. When you use veneered slats as wall decoration, a finish on three sides is sufficient. In the Astrata Slats collection, you will find both versions in many different types of wood. Untreated in natural oak or stained and varnished, ready for use? You can choose to apply the finish yourself so you can see how the slats fit into your interior before deciding on the colour, or you can make that choice in advance and go for ready-made so the installation can be done extra quickly.
