In 1979, Urbain Desmet built the solid foundation of the company: a deep-rooted passion for wood. What started as a carpentry company evolves by the second generation, Jan and Mark Desmet, into the European market leader in veneer processing. Today, Decospan broadens its service and is known as the partner for total wood solutions in interior.

To make that service possible, the company is investing in industry 4.0. The new Menen production site is a perfect example of a complex collaboration between robotics, automation and artificial intelligence. At the 40-year anniversary event, all stakeholders were introduced to this new form of industry and experienced an exclusive tour on a golf cart.
Afterwards, the Desmet family welcomed everyone for a special party in a unique wooden circle. A circle that visually represented every link in the company and that also literally brought everyone together. From employee, customer, supplier to any other stakeholder, they all play an important role in the company's success.
